Baked Apple

Here is my last recipe for the day! I will be posting more this week, and I am going to try (emphasis on try) to post one recipe everyday this week, and I am particularly excited for Thursday's recipe.

This recipe is one of my favorites to make when I need a sweet treat in fall time, and it's so easy and simple.

Special tools or ingredients: none

Ingredients

One apple (I love Honeycrisp and Gala.)

Three tbsp. brown sugar

Plain oats

Vanilla extract (Imitation vanilla works great.)

Honey (I used raw honey, but you can use a different kind as well. It's your apple!)

Cinnamon (You knew it was coming.)

Nutmeg

Pumpkin pie spice (Optional.)

Tools

Baking dish (I have a little one that works amazingly.)

Small baking sheet

Fork or spatula

Small bowl

Spoon

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or about 205 degrees Celsius.

2. Cut the core out of your apple using a small knife. Try to keep it as intact as possible.

3. In a small bowl, mix the sugar and spices until well combined. Add a small splash of vanilla and mix until it resembles wettish sand (I know I'm so great at describing textures.) Add a spoonful of the oats.

4. Put your cored apple into the small baking dish, and fill the middle hole with the brown sugar mix. Sprinkle the oats and drizzle the honey on top. Go ahead and dust the top with the spices too.

5. Fill the bottom of the baking dish with water. (The steam from the water helps cook the apple. It also creates a syrup when done baking.)

5. Place in oven and bake until it is soft when you cut it. About twenty to thirty minutes. (It all depends. I like mine really mushy.)

6. Remove from oven and let cool for three minutes before putting in a bowl. Pour the syrup from the bottom of the baking dish onto the apple. Enjoy!

There are a lot of versatile ways to make this, so add any other ingredients you think would taste good! Be creative! That's how I cook most of my recipes.

I love making these for when I work on school or my book.

I hope it worked out for you! Enjoy and happy baking! (Feel free to leave recipe suggestions in the comments!)

Fluffy Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes

Pancakes are quite easy to make if you do it right. They are also very versatile, and you can add chocolate, nuts, and, specifically in this recipe, blueberries and lemon. This is a very nice breakfast for a special morning, or just a slow morning!  This is recipe number four in my fall recipe series, and you can skip adding the blueberries and lemon if they are not in season, and just stick to the spices for a full-fall pancake. This recipe is perfect for September.   I got this recipe from The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs (I altered the recipe quite a bit, but it is very loosely based on it.) Special tools or ingredients: blueberries and lemon Ingredients 1 cup all-purpose flour 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 cup milk 1 large egg 2 tbsp. oil (Vegetable, canola, and olive work well.) 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract (You can also use almond extract and it still tastes amazing!)
